Apply to Butler Tech

To apply for a program located at a Butler Tech Campus (D. Russel Lee Career-Technology Center, the Natural Science Center, or Options Academy the Arts), fill out this application and submit it to your guidance counselor. Contact the guidance department at the appropriate location with any questions.

How will I get to Butler Tech D. Russel Lee?
In order to get to one of our campuses, you will have two choices. The first choice is to drive your own vehicle. There will be plenty of parking spots at the schools. Parking permits are available for purchase. The second choice is to ride the bus from your home school to your Butler Tech program campus.[ top ]

How much does it cost to go to a Butler Tech program?
There is a $20 student activity fee for each program. Select labs also have additional tool and uniform costs which vary in cost. [ top ]

Will I still have to take academic classes at Butler Tech D. Russel Lee / Natural Science Center?
Yes. All students will need to meet graduation requirements for the state of Ohio. Butler Tech offers similar academic classes as a traditional high school. Students will take English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. [ top ]

Can I play sports at my home school?
Yes.  You will have time to go back to your home school to participate in sports. We encourage students to be involved in their home school AND Butler Tech activities. We have many students who participate in football, cheerleading, drama club, basketball, etc. [ top ]

Will I have opportunities to join organizations/clubs?
Yes.  All students will be involved in career technical student organizations such as The National FFA Organization, Skills USA, DECA, Business Professionals of America, and FCCLA. These organizations offer opportunities for leadership, community service, competitions, and social events. [ top ]

Will I graduate from Butler Tech?
You will remain a student and graduate from your home high school. In addition to your high school diploma, you will also receive a career-technical certificate and a Career Portfolio from Butler Tech. [ top ]

If I go to a Butler Tech program, can I still go on to college?
Yes.  Students are encouraged to continue their education at a 2 or 4 year school after completing a Butler Tech program.  Many of our current students use their projects and experiences from Butler Tech to build their resume and portfolio for admission into a 2 or 4 year degree program. We’re pleased to say Butler Tech has the second highest college entrance rate of any school in Butler County! [ top ]
