Join the ranks of the country’s Domestic Preparedness Officers as
Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians. Successful graduates
of this program are eligible for hire as a full-time Level II Firefighter
(top Ohio certification) in any municipality, and a Nationally Registered
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic. As a firefighter, you’ll be called
upon to assist those in dire need in many highly unusual circumstances.
As an NREMT-B, you’ll be licensed to function as ambulance attendants
within, or outside of a fire department helping those with emergency
medical needs anywhere in the country. You’ll also be eligible for
further advanced training as a paramedic. You’ll learn how to safely
manage fire within structures by actually entering into a controlled
burn atmosphere in your senior year. You’ll learn basic rope rappelling
techniques, auto extrication techniques, and hazardous materials
response. This very popular hands-on program keeps students excited
and “fully engaged” throughout the entire school year from fighting
fires to making mock ambulance runs on campus in a real fire truck
and ambulance. All equipment, including personal firefighting gear
is provided.
Firefighting Technology is offered at D. Russel Lee Career-Technology
Center.
