STATEMENT OF NONDISCRIMINATION AND CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION REPORTING PROCEDURES

Butler Tech is committed to providing equal opportunities and both an educational and work environment free from discrimination. The Board shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including sexual orientation and transgender identity), disability, age, religion, military status, ancestry, genetic information or any other legally protected category with regarding employment opportunities nor will the Board tolerate harassment of any kind based upon the above-referenced protected characteristics.The Board encourages those within the District who feel aggrieved to seek assistance to rectify such problems. The Board will investigate all allegations of discrimination and/or harassment and in those cases where such a claim is substantiated, the Board will take immediate steps to end the unlawful behavior, prevent its re-occurrence, and remedy its effects. Individuals who are found to have engaged in unlawful harassment will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action.Under board policy, an employee has an obligation to immediately report any information which indicates that a student, employee or visitor may have been subject to acts of harassment or discrimination of any type to a compliance officer. This obligation is triggered if an employee witnesses acts of harassment/discrimination, hears about harassment or discrimination from anyone, or receives a verbal or written complaint with allegations of harassment/discrimination.Further, the Board upholds that any act of retaliation against a person who has made a report or filed a complaint alleging unlawful harassment, or who has participated as a witness in a harassment investigation is prohibited.

The Board has adopted policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal equal opportunity/affirmative action statutes and regulations for students and staff, including procedures to investigate complaints of possible violations. For Civil Rights concerns or complaints, contact the Civil Rights Compliance Officer(s). Responsibilities: Coordinates the District’s efforts to comply with applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, including the District’s duty to address in a prompt and equitable manner any inquiries or complaints regarding discrimination, retaliation or denial of equal access.
