This part-time evening program will have you ready for a new career in phlebotomy in less than four months. Our program emphasizes a combination of phlebotomy theory and practical application, both of which are needed for successful employment.
Due to growing demand, the complexity of laboratory testing and the need to increase the efficiency and cost effectiveness of healthcare, phlebotomy has become a specialized area of clinical laboratory practice. Phlebotomists are trained to collect blood samples from patients, perform related technical procedures and process the associated clerical tasks.
The curriculum includes medical terminology, law and ethics, safety procedures and employable skills in addition to phlebotomy theory and practicum. As vital members of the healthcare team, phlebotomist work closely with patients and require good communication and organizational skills. Students are required to complete clinical time which will vary from the scheduled class dates and times. Clinical time will continue until student completes the required number of blood draws.
Our graduates are well prepared for entry-level positions in this field. There are job opportunities for phlebotomists in many different healthcare settings including hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices and other healthcare facilities.
