Drive to Succeed Scholarship
Butler Tech has been awarded grant dollars through the Drive to Succeed Program from the Ohio Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO), to provide scholarships for students to assist with the cost of Driver’s Education classes through Aceable and Butler Tech.
Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program
The Drive to Succeed scholarship aims to provide eligible Butler Tech students with the opportunity to complete their driver’s education, enhancing their career readiness and educational success.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Drive to Succeed scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a Butler Tech Campus Student
- Ohio Temporary Permit: Students must have their Ohio Temporary Permit.
- Demonstrate Financial Need: Students must demonstrate financial need. This can be shown by qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program or through other means of demonstrating need through communication with Butler Tech staff.
- Parent Permission Form: A parent or guardian must sign the permission form.

- Upload your signed permission form as an attachment in the application.
- Essay Submission: Students must submit a 3-5 paragraph essay explaining how the scholarship will benefit their education or career readiness.
- Cost Sharing Requirement: A $25.00 fee is required to participate in the program. This fee will offset the cost of the driver’s training and hold your spot with Butler Tech’s Behind-the-Wheel Driver’s Training Program.
Application and Verification Process
- Complete the Application: Fill out the application form and submit it along with your essay and signed permission form.
- Verification by School Staff: After submitting your application, school staff will verify your eligibility.
- Payment of Contribution: Once your eligibility is confirmed, you will need to pay the $25.00 contribution to the front office.
Program Details
- Online Classroom Portion: Butler Tech will assist you in obtaining login information for Aceable.com, where you will complete the classroom portion of your driver’s education.
- Behind-the-Wheel Training: Upon successful completion of the online classroom portion, you will be connected with Butler Tech Behind-the-Wheel to complete the in-car portion of your training.
Follow-Up Surveys
Participants in the Drive to Succeed scholarship program will be required to take part in pre and post-driver education surveys conducted by OTSO. These surveys are designed to:
- Track the effectiveness of the program.
- Identify additional barriers to success.
- Assess the real-life impact of the scholarship on youth drivers.
