Drivers Education – Behind-the-Wheel Training – REGISTRATION IS NOW ONLINE!

Preparing for Your Behind-the-Wheel Training at Butler Tech 

Obtain a temporary permit at your local BMV.  You must be at least 15 and a half.

Complete at least 10 of the 50 required hours of in-car driving with a parent or guardian.

Butler Tech now offers 2 options:

24hr online class + 8 hours Behind-the-Wheel ($700)

During registration, you will need to do the following:

• Upload a copy of your temporary permit
• You and your guardian will need to sign the Butler Tech Behind the Wheel Training Agreement.
• Make the full payment by credit card.  Full payment is required at time of registration.
• If paying by cash or check, please call 513 645-8286 or e-mail DriversEd@ButlerTech.org

Note:  There will be a $50 charge for all returned checks and you may be removed from the driving schedule until payment is in good standing.

Once your registration is complete, you will receive an e-mail with login information in 1-2 days.  You will then be given a link to the online class.

After completing the online class, you will be put in line and contacted by phone to be scheduled for the 8 hour behind the wheel.

8 hours Behind-the-Wheel ONLY ($650)

During registration, you will need to do the following:

• Upload a copy of your temporary permit.
• Upload a copy of your 24-hr online driver’s education certificate.
• You and your guardian will need to sign the Butler Tech Behind the Wheel Training Agreement.  All 8 hours of in-car driving must be completed within six months of signing the agreement.
• Make the full payment by credit card.  Full payment is required at the time of registration.

Once your registration is complete, you will receive an e-mail with login information in 1-2 days.  After you log in and complete the paperwork, you will be contacted by phone to schedule your drives.

Your Scheduled Driving Hours

Once your registration has been completed you will be contacted to schedule. At Butler Tech we schedule the required 8 hours in four, (2) hour sessions, in a Butler Tech state-inspected vehicle, 1-on-1 with the instructor. We pick up and drop off at the following schools or at the Butler Tech Public Safety Education Complex in Liberty Township. We do not pick up or drop off at home. 

We pick up at the following schools during school hours:

• Butler Tech D. Russel Lee (DRL)
• Butler Tech School of the Arts (SOA)
• Edgewood High School
• Fairfield High School
• Hamilton High School
• Lakota East High School
• Lakota West High School
• Madison High School
• Middletown High School
• Monroe High School

• You should be at the designated pick-up location on the date and time shown and MUST SHOW YOUR DRIVING PERMIT EACH TIME TO THE INSTRUCTOR OR BEHIND-THE-WHEEL TRAINING WILL BE CANCELLED.
• Additional in-car training may be scheduled at a rate of $75 per hour for anyone who has already completed the required 8 hours of instruction or anyone over 18.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

• All behind-the-wheel cancellations must be made within 24 business hours by calling 513-645-8286 to avoid a $75 cancellation fee.
• To reschedule a training, call 513-645-8286 during regular business hours / Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm / Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Payment of any additional fees must be made before rescheduling.

Completing Your Behind-the-Wheel Training. What’s Next?

Once you complete your 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training, you will receive your certificate of completion by email to be used for your final driving test.
