Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) 2+

Program Overview

The Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) 2+ Program at Butler Tech offers a clear, accelerated pathway into the healthcare field, beginning in the junior year. Located at the Fairfield Township Campus in the D. Russell Lee building, students complete both their academics and career training in one place.

During the junior year, students build a strong foundation in healthcare while preparing to obtain their industry-recognized credentials, including Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Phlebotomy Technician. Coursework in medical terminology and medical math supports clinical readiness and confidence.

Their senior year, students transition into LPN training, advancing their knowledge in anatomy and physiology, nutrition, pharmacology, and gerontology while developing hands-on skills in patient care, infection control, wound care, and medication administration. Work-based learning and internship opportunities provide valuable real-world experience.

After senior year, students continue their journey through Butler Tech Adult Education to complete the final portion of the program, preparing them to sit for LPN licensure and begin their careers in healthcare.

This pathway gives students a head start by earning industry-recognized credentials, gaining real-world experience, and graduating prepared to step directly into a healthcare career or continue advancing in nursing.

Students have the opportunity to participate in HOSA – Future Health Professionals, a career technical student organization that enhances leadership development, professional skills, and healthcare knowledge through competitions and events.
