BT Students Earn National TSA Championships

Update

Thirty-seven Butler Tech students recently represented Butler Tech on the national stage, traveling to Washington, D.C., to compete at the annual Technology Student Association (TSA) National Conference after qualifying through top performances at the Ohio state competition in April.

Competing against some of the nation’s most talented students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), Butler Tech students demonstrated the creativity, technical expertise and problem-solving skills they’ve developed through hands-on learning experiences in their classrooms.

The week was highlighted by two national championship titles.

Students from Butler Tech programs at Fairfield, Lakota East, Lakota West, Ross, Colerain/Northwest and West Freshman campuses competed in a wide range of events, including Animatronics, Architectural Design, Biotechnology Design, Coding, Drone Technology, Flight, Music Production, Robotics, Structural Engineering, Transportation Modeling and Video Game Design.

Earning a place at the national conference required months of preparation, dedication and perseverance. Students first advanced through regional and state-level competition before earning the opportunity to compete against the best TSA members from across the country.

“Watching our students compete on the national stage is a testament to their dedication, perseverance and passion for innovation,” said Jen Hayes, Region 1 Satellite Supervisor. “The countless hours they invested alongside their advisors in designing, building, testing and refining their projects culminated in an incredible week of competition. We couldn’t be more proud of how they represented Butler Tech and their associate schools.”

The district also recognizes the many individuals who helped make the trip possible, including the eight dedicated advisors who mentored students throughout the competition season, satellite secretaries Stephanie Patterson and Tori Martin for their logistical support, and Butler Tech’s finance team for coordinating travel arrangements.

A special thank you is also extended to Joe Schorr for his outstanding leadership and years of service as Ohio TSA State Advisor. His tireless dedication has helped create meaningful opportunities for students across the state while strengthening the impact of TSA programs.

Congratulations to all 37 Butler Tech students who represented the district with excellence and showcased the passion, innovation and technical skills that continue to make Butler Tech students career-ready and college-prepared.
