Butler Tech/Edgewood DECA attains Thrive Level status

Update

Butler Tech/Edgewood DECA has been distinguished among 645 chapters worldwide for attaining Thrive Level status. This honor will be formally acknowledged at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC), slated for April 27-30, 2024, in Anaheim, California.

DECA chapters engage in four key campaigns annually, designed to enhance leadership skills, boost membership engagement, and foster community and school partnerships. Attaining Thrive Level recognition involves excelling in these initiatives, earning the chapter a set of commemorative accolades including a pennant, flag, and plaque. Butler Tech/Edgewood DECA accomplished this by successfully executing two critical campaigns: community service and promotional efforts. The chapter’s community service was highlighted by a partnership with UC Hoxworth Blood Center, orchestrating a vital blood drive. Their promotional campaign featured six outreach activities, significantly contributing to local and school community engagement.

Advisor Rocky Chasteen shared that DECA’s core values and attributes are competence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.

“These values are central to DECA’s mission and purpose in classrooms around the world. Thrive level status confirms the importance of the core values in our chapter, and we strive continuously to reach them,” said Chasteen.

Additionally, the chapter’s dedication to expanding its membership culminated in achieving Thrive Level for its membership campaign. By recruiting 20 alumni members and boosting student membership significantly, Butler Tech-Edgewood DECA exemplifies the essence of DECA’s mission: fostering networking, leadership, community involvement, and educational growth beyond traditional competitions.
