Butler Tech International HOSA Leadership Conference Success

By AJ Huff

Update

Twenty-nine Butler Tech students recently traveled to Indianapolis to compete at the 50th Annual HOSA International Leadership Conference (ILC), joining more than 15,000 students, advisors and healthcare professionals from around the world.

This year’s conference marked a historic milestone for HOSA. With record attendance, the organization utilized an NFL stadium for both its Opening Session and Awards Ceremony for the first time ever.

Earning a place at the international conference is no small accomplishment. Before arriving in Indianapolis, Butler Tech students advanced through local, regional and state competitions to qualify for one of the most competitive healthcare student leadership events in the nation.

Their journey to the international stage required months of preparation. Students spent countless hours studying, writing speeches, refining presentations, preparing professional displays and practicing technical skills in their respective competition areas. Along the way, they deepened their knowledge of healthcare careers while developing the leadership, communication and professionalism that will serve them well in the future.

Beyond competition, students fully embraced the conference experience. They attended professional workshops, connected with healthcare professionals and peers from across the country, and represented Butler Tech with professionalism and pride throughout the week.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the way our students represented Butler Tech,” said Jason Orlando, Assistant Principal of the Bioscience Center. “Whether they were competing, networking or participating in conference activities, they consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication and a passion for healthcare.”

Several students earned international recognition for their outstanding performances:

2nd Place

  • Emmeline Slusher – Clinical Specialty

5th Place

  • Olivia Fisher, Owen Luehrman, Annabelle Manchak and Nick Maslin – Anatomage

Butler Tech students from the Bioscience Center, Edgewood, Lakota East, Lakota West and Ross represented the organization at the international conference, competing in events ranging from Medical Assisting and Biotechnology to Public Health, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Forensic Science and more.

Congratulations to all 29 Butler Tech students who earned the opportunity to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference. Their hard work, commitment and professionalism made Butler Tech proud and showcased the incredible talent found throughout our healthcare pathways.
