Butler Tech Students Earn Top Honors at SkillsUSA State Conference

By AJ Huff

Update

More than 170 Butler Tech students from D. Russell Lee, School of the Arts, Hamilton, Northwest, and Colerain represented the district at the 2026 SkillsUSA Ohio State Conference, showcasing their technical skills, professionalism, leadership, and career readiness across a wide range of competitive events.

The results were nothing short of outstanding, with Butler Tech students earning:

  • 18 Gold Medals
  • 14 Silver Medals
  • 7 Bronze Medals

In addition, 18 students will advance to represent Butler Tech and the state of Ohio at the national competition in Atlanta this June.

A major highlight of the conference was D. Russell Lee being recognized as a SkillsUSA Chapter of Distinction, earning Bronze level recognition through the national Chapter Excellence Program (CEP).

The Chapter Excellence Program serves as SkillsUSA’s national framework for recognizing chapter achievement in leadership development, community service, workplace readiness, advocacy, and student engagement. Earning Bronze distinction signifies that D. Russell Lee successfully implemented and documented a high level of chapter programming aligned to the SkillsUSA Framework and national standards for chapter excellence.

This recognition reflects the strength of Butler Tech student leadership, advisor commitment, and the meaningful impact students continue making both in and outside the classroom.
