DECA Celebrating Champions of All Abilities at Edgewood and Ross

Update

At Edgewood, the tradition runs deep. Held at Kumler Field, All Champions Day is one of the most cherished events led by Butler Tech–Edgewood DECA. Designed to celebrate students with multiple disabilities, the event offers a field day for students throughout the district full of fun, team building, and connection. From obstacle courses to dodgeball and kickball, students get the chance to shine. First launched in 2015 by DECA advisor Rocky Chasteen, the event has grown into a district-wide celebration of inclusivity, even inspiring the creation of Edgewood’s Best Buddies chapter in 2022 to foster year-round friendships and awareness.

At Ross, the spirit of All Champions Day was just as powerful. Led by Butler Tech–Ross DECA students and more than 50 RHS volunteers, the event honored students of all abilities with a day dedicated to joy, pride, and acceptance. The football field, and eventually the gymnasium, due to some weather complications, transformed into celebration spaces filled with high-fives, big smiles, and unforgettable moments, all reinforcing the power of student-led compassion and community.

These events are more than just a day of fun, they are a reminder of the strength found in empathy, connection, and the belief that every student deserves to feel like a champion.
