Butler Tech recognized this need early, launching Butler Tech Driver Education in 2022 to expand access to high-quality, affordable training across the region and help more students take advantage of opportunities like the Drive to Succeed scholarship.

Through the continued state-funded Drive to Succeed scholarship program, even more students have a pathway forward.

Designed to remove financial barriers to driver training, Drive to Succeed provides scholarships for eligible young people aged 15 ½ to 20 years old. The program is administered by the Fairfield County Educational Service Center and serves students across a wide region, including: Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren County.

To qualify, students must:

  • Qualify for SNAP benefits within the past 12 months
  • Hold a valid Ohio Temporary Permit
  • Commit to program requirements through a signed agreement
  • Complete a parent/guardian orientation if under age 18

For students who qualify, the impact is immediate.

Students who use their Drive to Succeed scholarship at Butler Tech Driver Education complete the required 24-hour online instruction and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training with certified instructors in addition to 50 hours of state-required practice time during the six-month probationary license.

Since launching in 2022, Butler Tech has trained thousands of students behind the wheel, preparing them to safely enter the roadway and take the next step in their education or career.

Transportation remains one of the most significant barriers for young people trying to access career training and employment. Drive to Succeed is one opportunity to reduce the financial barriers for those on the path to getting a driver’s license.
