Butler Tech is thrilled to celebrate Kimheart Moeung, Principal and Creative Director of the Butler Tech School of the Arts (SOA), as the prestigious Muse Machine, Virginia Kettering Award recipient. The award honors educational leaders whose vision and commitment inspire students and teachers to grow through the power of the arts.

Kimheart’s impact was particularly evident following the Muse Machine Summer Institute, where staff members—many from non-arts disciplines—returned energized to create a school-wide arts-based project. The initiative fostered collaboration among students across artistic pathways, using the arts to build community and promote socio-emotional learning. Originally inspired by Funk music, this project evolved into an ongoing platform for peer mentorship and cross-disciplinary engagement.

As both a leader and a practicing artist, Kimheart exemplifies passion and dedication. From competing in the International World of Dance competition to performing in benefit concerts, his connection to the arts is personal and profound. He extends this passion to his students by taking professional headshots for their portfolios and organizing enriching opportunities such as attending the Broadway hit Hamilton.Three people stand together, smiling. Heather Campbell, an Innovative Teaching and Learning Coach at Butler Tech, shared in her nomination letter, “Kimheart’s openness to new ideas, willingness to collaborate with his staff, and dedication to enhancing the student experience through the arts are just a few of the many reasons I believe he deserves the Virginia Kettering Award. He exemplifies the kind of visionary leadership that the award is intended to recognize—one that fosters creativity, community, and growth in both students and educators.”

The Virginia Kettering Award is a testament to Kimheart’s visionary leadership, passion for the arts, and commitment to his students and staff. Butler Tech is proud of the incredible work he continues to do at the School of the Arts, creating transformative opportunities that inspire creativity and growth.

Join us in congratulating Kimheart Moeung on this well-deserved honor!
