Snow Days = Distance Learning Days

Update

Butler Tech Secondary Students & Parents:

Although we are experiencing a relatively mild winter, it’s now obvious that there is a chance for inclement weather each year! Students and teachers should complete their work first and then take time to build a snowman, have a snowball fight and/or curl up on the couch with a good book!

With this in mind, the following are snow day/distance learning day guidelines should the following scenarios occur:

Butler Tech secondary school campuses are closed due to inclement weather:

  • The day is counted as a DISTANCE LEARNING day for all students.
  • Students who would normally be DISTANCE LEARNING on that day (M/W, T/R) will continue with their regularly scheduled assignments for the week via Schoology, email, etc.
  • Students who would normally be FACE-TO-FACE on that day (M/W, T/R) will receive teaching and learning online via Schoology, email, etc. Attendance will follow the Tier 2 Attendance Model.
  • If Butler Tech cancels on a Friday – all on-campus activities, including Fifth Day Experiences, will be canceled and students will remain responsible for their distance learning work for that week.
  • Teachers will be available throughout the day to assist students as needed with assignments via Schoology, email, etc.

A student’s home school is closed due to inclement weather:

  • The day is counted as a DISTANCE LEARNING day for those students.
  • Teachers will assist students as needed with assignments via Schoology, email, etc.
  • If a student’s home school cancels on a Friday – and that student is unable to attend an on-campus activity, including Fifth Day Experience, due to lack of transportation, students will remain responsible for their distance learning work for that week. If they have personal transportation and wish to attend an on-campus activity, they may still attend campus.

If you have any questions regarding these remote learning days, please see your instructor.
