Eighteen Butler Tech students recently represented the district and the D. Russel Lee Career Center at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, competing against the top career-technical education students from across the country.
Qualifying for the national competition is an achievement in itself. SkillsUSA awards only one national bid per state in each competition area each year, making the opportunity to compete at the national level a reflection of the dedication, skill and perseverance these students demonstrated throughout the year.
Students competed in the following events:
- Quiz Bowl
- Career Pathways – Human Services
- Career Pathways – Health Services
- Career Pathways – Arts and Communication
- Welding Fabrication Team
- CNC 3-Axis Programmer
Two Butler Tech teams returned home with Bronze Medals, earning a place among the nation’s best.
Career Pathways – Human Services (Bronze Medal)
- Kayleigh DeLisle
- Alyson Green
- Isabella Downard
Career Pathways – Arts and Communication (Bronze Medal)
- Wyatt Saylor
- Lillian Kiniyalocts
- Leeanna Eversole
The Career Pathways – Health Services team also delivered an impressive performance, placing sixth in the nation in a highly competitive field.
These accomplishments represent far more than a competition result. They reflect months of preparation, collaboration and determination, as well as the real-world knowledge and technical skills students have developed through their Butler Tech experience.
Just as importantly, students represented Butler Tech with professionalism, integrity and pride throughout the conference, demonstrating what it means to be career-ready and college-prepared.
A special thank you goes to the advisors and staff members who invested countless hours preparing students for competition and supporting them throughout the national conference. Their guidance and encouragement helped make this experience possible.
For many students, simply qualifying for nationals was the culmination of months of preparation and hard work. To return home with national medals and top-six finishes is an accomplishment they will carry with them long after the competition ends.
