Students visit Mazak during Manufacturing Month

Update

This October, as part of Manufacturing Month, our Precision Machining students attended Mazak’s Discover 2023 Technology + Education event, held at their National Headquarters in Florence, Kentucky. The event welcomed more than 2,000 visitors from 46 U.S. states and seven countries. It was a celebration of innovation, technology, and the future of manufacturing. The theme for this year’s showcase was “Learn More. Do More. Make More with Mazak.”

One of the highlights of the event was the live demonstrations of essential Mazak technology showcasing cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.

“Throughout the tour, we likely saw millions of dollars in machines and facilities,” shared Cory Becker, junior Precision Machining student. “It was truly a great experience that allowed me to look further into the future of machining as an industry and recognize what I can expect to see widespread in the future of the industry.”

The students also learned about the integration of automation options that save time and enable productivity that can occur with little to no human interaction. Our students got a firsthand look at the future of manufacturing and how technology can empower even less-experienced operators.

“Knowing how something is made is one thing,” said senior Precision Machining student Nolen Wagers. “But actually being able to see automation in motion was a totally different experience.”

The exposure to Mazak’s cutting-edge technology, the networking opportunities, and the chance to learn from industry leaders are preparing our students for successful careers in manufacturing.
