Bioscience Center
The Butler Tech Bioscience Center is located in the heart of our region’s rapidly growing biomedical-related industry. We have strong business partnerships to allow our students to learn outside the classroom through real-world experiences.

Our partnerships with local healthcare facilities and medical-oriented businesses are unique for this area. They offer students the opportunity to job shadow or experience internships, giving them access to hands-on work unavailable to most high school students. Some of our partners include UC Health West Chester Hospital, Atrium Medical Center, UC Health Physical Therapy and Butler County Care Facility.

CAMPUS LIFE
Students attend our Bioscience Center full time during their junior and senior year. You can still participate in sports and social events such as prom at your home school. Transportation is provided from your home school, or you may drive yourself to our West Chester campus. There is a $50 annual parking fee.

The Bioscience Center uses a blended learning approach. Students experience a combination of classroom instruction and online learning. There are no class periods or bells ringing in our center. The college-like atmosphere gives students more flexibility over the time, place, path and pace of their studies.

ACADEMICS
All academic courses are college preparatory level and are aligned to state standards. Core academic courses include English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Foreign Language.

All students do a Capstone project their senior year. In these individualized projects, students focus on an area of particular interest to them, related to their career goals.

EARNING COLLEGE CREDIT
Our students have the opportunity to earn up to 40 college credits while in high school.

Our counselor works with each student to create a college and/or career plan. We offer dual enrollment courses by way of the Ohio College Credit Plus program, where students receive high school credit and college credit at the same time. We also offer some articulated college credit classes, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and Credit Transfer Assurance Guide (CTAG) courses.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
Students are also able to compete in a variety of health related competitions through a career technical student leadership group called the Health Occupations Student Association (HOSA). All Bioscience Center students are required to join HOSA as part of the program.

GRADUATION
Your high school diploma will be from your home school district. You will receive a certificate from Butler Tech for your particular program. You can participate in both your home school graduation and the Butler Tech graduation celebration if you choose.

AFTER BUTLER TECH
About 70 percent of our students attend a two- or four-year college upon graduation. All students who complete the program and capstone have the potential to earn certification. Scholarships are available at local post-secondary institutions upon completion of many of our programs.
