Enroll and Succeed at Butler Tech Adult Education

Start your career journey with one of Butler Tech’s 40+ short-term, career-focused programs designed for adults. Our programs—ranging from 2 weeks to 11 monthsoffer daytime or evening options and lead to state and nationally recognized credentials in high-demand, high-paying fields like healthcare, skilled trades, public safety, and technology.

Butler Tech Adult Education Enrollment Information 

The majority of Butler Tech Adult Education programs are open enrollment—seats are secured upon submitting all the satisfactory enrollment requirements on a first-come-first-come basis.  

In contrast, the LPN to RN Bridge Program is competitive and requires submission of a complete application by the stated deadline. Admission is determined by a review committee.  

 

 

*Program Requirements & Prerequisites

  • The WorkKeys® System connects work skills, training, and testing for education and business. The WorkKeys tests are a required pre-entrance exams for several of Butler Tech’s programs. By completing the assessments, you can earn the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate. Submit score sheet to your program secretary upon completion. 

    The assessment is comprised of three parts: 

    • Applied Math 
    • Workplace Documents 
    • Graphic Literacy

    Free ACT WorkKeys® practice tests can be found on the OhioMeansJobs website. 

    Practice Test 

    The Aspire program offers free in person tutoring for the ACT WorkKeys® assessments at several locations and time frames. Contact Aspire at 513.894.0301 

    Ready to Schedule 

    When you are ready, you can schedule your WorkKeys® Assessment in three ways: 

    Cost 

    The cost of all three tests are $78 due at the time of scheduling. The cost includes a re-take of the needed sections if you don’t pass the first time. After the first section re-take, it is $26 per section. Candidates can retake a section up to three times in 3 months.  

    Helpful Tips 

    • Register for your assessment at least three business days in advance. 
    • There are three sections to the assessment. You can take all three in one day or choose to take them one at a time. 
    • Each section takes about 55 minutes to complete. 
    • You must bring a photo ID when you take the exam. 
    • You may use a standard calculator during the exam. 
    • Arrive 10 – 15 minutes early. If you are late, you will have to reschedule. 
    • No family members or children are permitted in the exam room. 
    • The test is good for 5 years. 
  • A high-school diploma or transcript, HSE/GED, or U.S. university transcript is required for admission to all programs except CDL and Certified Nurse Aide  

    • You can get a copy of your GED/HSE by going to diplomasender.com 
    • For International diplomas/transcripts, BT must receive an official copy from the Educational Credential Evaluators, 414-289-3400, eval@ece.org

Student Resources

  • Upcoming program start dates are updated regularly and are listed on the adult education program information page. 

    Class dates and location are subject to change. Students enrolled in a class that is postponed, moved, or canceled will be notified as soon as possible. 

  • Official Withdrawal Policy 

    Students who wish to withdraw from a full­time program must complete the appropriate paperwork with the program coordinator or supervisor and the Student Services office. 

    Full Time Program Refund Policy 

    • After the first 50% of the enrollment period: No Refund 
    • On or before 50% of the enrollment period: 25% 
    • On or before 25% of the enrollment period: 50% 
    • On or before 10% of the enrollment period: 90% 
    • On or before the first day of class: 100% 

    The student’s last recorded date of attendance is the basis for all calculations. 

  • Butler Tech Adult Education is approved and operated in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Higher Education. It is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education; 7840 Roswell Road, Building 300, Suite 325; Atlanta GA 30350. 

    The Practical Nursing program is approved by the Ohio State Board of Nursing. 

    The Basic Police Academy is approved by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. 

    The Paramedic program and Fire Rescue Academy are approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of EMS. 

    The Paramedic program is additionally accredited by CoAEMSP; 8301 Lakeview Parkway, Suite 111-312, Rowlett, TX 75088. 

    All full time adult programs are approved by the State Approving Agency for Veterans Training.

  • Butler Tech is designed to get you the skills you need quickly, so missing hours means missing progress. Regular attendance is required to stay in good standing and qualify for your credential. Each program has attendance benchmarks unique to their accreditation and professional certification that will be reviewed in class.
