BT Aerospace Engineering students create car for students with special needs

The Perlman Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center invited Mr. McClure and his Butler Tech Aerospace Engineering students from Lakota West to a Go-Baby-Go car build day, which was on Saturday, March 9th. The students that attended included: Ian Berkey, Charlie Eagle, Brad Fisher, Zak Scherer, Michael Simmons, David Vovk, and James Wright.

Students were given an unassembled car and a list of design requests that were specific to the child’s special needs. Once the cars were built, the engineering students gave the cars to the families and got to see the children drive the cars they had made for them.

Mr. McClure’s new project-based Engineering Capstone class has been working with the Perlman Center this year on specific design requests for their center. Students are designing and making specific tools and equipment requested to help improve function and mobility.
