CDL Driver – Overcoming Challenges to Earn a License to Success

Do not let what you cannot do, interfere with what you can do. -John Wooden

Leroy Carter is all too familiar with this idea and mental focus. Carter is Butler Tech’s first deaf CDL Program graduate. He has passed the licensure test and is now a licensed CDL holder in the state of Ohio. This is a great accomplishment for Carter, and he’s not stopping there.

“My goal is to earn a million safety miles and my dream is to someday own a trucking company,” Carter shared. Carter credits his brother Maurice and his uncle for inspiring him to get his CDL license “because I want to be successful.”

“The most challenging is learning 10-speed shifting,” Carter admitted about his training. And, he will never forget stopping for trains twelve different times with Butler Tech CDL Instructor Sandy Chase during his training. Not surprising if you’re driving in Butler County!

Congratulations on your accomplishment Leroy!
