Fort Hamilton Hospital recently highlighted the partnership with the Butler Tech Project LIFE program in their monthly newsletter the Fort Focus. Project LIFE is an education and work experience program for students with disabilities. This particular partnership has allowed five students to begin interning at the hospital and over the course of the school year, 15 students will cycle through various internship roles throughout the hospital.
“The students have shined the last couple of weeks as they have learned new skills, been willing to jump in wherever Carla has asked them to and performed their jobs with enthusiasm, and determination. The students are committed, hardworking, and have displayed wonderful teamwork. They have connected to our staff and served our patients and visitors with kindness and compassion,” shared Lynn Goodwin, Volunteer Coordinator with the Fort Hamilton Hospital Foundation.
The comprehensive training received through Project LIFE, combines education and authentic work experiences to prepare students with disabilities for an independent future. Project LIFE would not be possible without the support and partners like Fort Hamilton Hospital!
