The Ohio FCCLA has chosen Sharon Gregory, Butler Tech Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at Talawanda High School, as its outstanding advisor for the Spirit of Advising Award. Ms. Gregory will be presented with the award on April 28 at the 2017 Ohio FCCLA State Leadership Conference and recognized as Ohio’s recipient at the National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., in July.
The Spirit of Advising Award recognizes advisors who have developed exceptional Family and Consumer Science programs and an outstanding FCCLA chapter that participates at the regional, state and national levels. Ms. Gregory was nominated by one of her students, Braelynn Wagers. Braelynn helped organize a relief effort in Oxford to benefit the victims of the Gatlinburg wildfires in December 2016.
Braelynn wrote in her nomination how Ms. Gregory helps her students achieve their personal best and transform the lives of others. “She shows them how they can impact those around them by being creative and truly thinking about how they can make a change for the better.”
