You’ve been dreaming of this for years. Buying your own motorcycle and hitting the open road. Butler Tech offers Motorcycle Ohio Rider Training Courses to help you take to the streets safely. Whether you are a beginner or have been riding for years, our courses can help you hone your skills to make your motorcycle experience more enjoyable for years to come.

Basic Rider Course

This course is for entry level and previously experienced riders ready to learn basic skills for street riding in a safe environment. The course includes four hours of classroom learning and 12 hours of riding. Those who successfully complete the course will receive an Ohio motorcycle endorsement. You may also be eligible for insurance discounts.

Prior to enrollment, riders must have a valid motorcycle Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Motorcycles will be provided by the Ohio Department of Public Safety.


Each course is $50.

Payments are non-refundable and must be made by credit card.


Registration is completed through the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

1. Visit the Motorcycle Ohio website.

2. Click Enroll in a Class.

3. Click Basic Rider Skills (BRS)

4. Select “Butler” from the dropdown, which will bring up a list of dates available.
