Dental Science

Butler Tech Dental Science prepares high school students to work with dentists and in dental laboratories. The training consists of learning computer-assisted office practices and procedures, patient preparation and comfort, chairside assisting procedures and the use of laboratory materials and equipment.

All students receive First Aid/CPR certification in their junior year and their Dental Radiography certification as a senior. Additionally, students complete the required coursework to sit for the Certified Ohio Dental Assistant (CODA) exam at the end of their senior year if they qualify.

Local dental offices provide opportunities for students to job shadow or intern to gain valuable knowledge and experience in the field. Students are also encouraged to participate in community volunteer dental experiences such as TeamSmile and Give Kids a Smile.

Courses Include:

  • Dental Radiography
  • Dental Technology
  • Medical and Dental Office Technology
  • Medical Terminology
  • Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

Dental Science is a full time program for high school juniors and seniors. Students will apply during their sophomore year.
