Alumni Spotlight: Austin Smith, Warren County Sheriff’s Department

Update

Thanks to a first-time partnership with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Commander Fitzgerald, Butler Tech’s Criminal Justice instructor, secured internships for several students inside the jail. One of these students, Austin Smith, was able to not only utilize the experience to further his education but earned a job as a full-time Corrections Officer with the department.

“As you can imagine, I am extremely proud of this young man and extremely grateful for the partnership with Warren County,” shared Commander Fitzgerald. “Being able to place students in careers in Criminal Justice directly upon graduation is incredible.”

Austin Smith As Smith kicks off his career in Criminal Justice, Commander Fitzgerald is continuing to work with Warren County Sheriff’s Office in hopes of additional internship opportunities for the upcoming school year.
