The Middletown Community Foundation continues to significantly boost adult education and skill development within the Butler Tech community. Through its Adult Learner Financial Assistance program, the foundation has provided over $30,000 in financial aid to 16 adult students at Butler Tech, with scholarships ranging between $2,000 and $2,500. This funding has been essential for enabling students to enhance their skills and marketability in the workforce, supporting a variety of certification programs such as Commercial Driver’s License Training, Licensed Practical Nursing, and Industrial Maintenance Technology. The initiative has greatly contributed to promoting career development and lifelong learning among Butler Tech’s adult learners.
Eligibility for this scholarship requires residency in Franklin, Madison, Middletown, Monroe, and Trenton, ensuring that the local community directly benefits from this opportunity. During information sessions for Butler Tech’s programs, potential students are informed about this scholarship, highlighting the pathway to financial support and educational advancement.
Richard Reed, a current student in the Industrial Maintenance Technology class, shared his experience: “Receiving this scholarship was a game changer for me. It definitely encouraged me to pursue this opportunity and gave me a foot in the door. With this support, I feel more comfortable and confident in my path, and I’m learning so much more quickly than if I had taken a traditional four-year route.”
The Middletown Community Foundation has transitioned from a printable application process to an online system. This development not only simplifies the application process but also reflects the foundation’s commitment to adapting to the needs of today’s learners.
Richard added, “Knowing that there is a streamlined, accessible application process makes it easier for people like me to take that crucial step toward furthering our education and careers.”
Butler Tech and the Middletown Community Foundation’s partnership exemplifies a shared vision of empowering adult learners and enhancing community development through education. As this collaboration continues to evolve, it promises to open new doors for individuals looking to improve their lives and careers through continued education and skill development.
