This Halloween, Butler Tech’s Child Development classes at Fairfield High School are bringing a special touch of holiday spirit to local hospitals with their heartfelt NICU costume project. Under the guidance of Miss Kuefner, these students are spreading Halloween joy to families of newborns in the NICU, creating soft, safe costumes that allow even the littlest trick-or-treaters to join in the festivities.
Over two days, students worked in pairs to brainstorm and design an array of adorable costumes, transforming simple materials into charming creations inspired by beloved Disney characters, cheerful vegetables, colorful crayons, and more. The project not only highlighted the students’ creative and collaborative skills but also fostered a deeper sense of compassion and community awareness. With great care, they crafted each costume to be gentle and comfortable for infants, ensuring both safety and joy.
Once completed, the costumes were packaged and delivered to local hospitals, ready to brighten Halloween for families who cannot celebrate at home. Through this meaningful project, Butler Tech students learned the power of empathy and service, seeing firsthand the impact of their work on the community.
This NICU costume initiative exemplifies the spirit of giving back that Butler Tech promotes, as the students’ hard work brings Halloween magic to families in challenging situations and makes the holiday a little brighter for everyone involved.
