Dental Science students participate in Give Kids a Smile

Update

The Butler Tech Bioscience Center partnered with the Ohio Dental Association to host 27 fifth graders from Rosa Parks Elementary as part of the Give Kids A Smile program where Dental Science students provided free dental care and oral health education.

The students, alongside local dentists who volunteered their time, provided free screenings, X-rays, spin brush cleanings, and fluoride treatments. Additionally, the dentists will provide free follow-up care to students who are found to be in need of additional restorative care.

The Give Kids a Smile program allows our Dental Science students to put their career technical education into action by assisting the dentists, sterilizing equipment, imaging, managing patient flow, and teaching the students about proper oral hygiene. Give Kids A Smile is an opportunity for the Butler Tech Dental Science students and dental professionals to improve oral health literacy on a broad scale by taking this message directly to the schools and other organizations that work with children.
