Update

A graphic illustrating core and additional prevention strategies for illness, including immunizations, masks, distancing, tests, and staying home when symptoms or fever are present.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the colder months, it’s important to be mindful of the increased risk of respiratory viruses in our community. To help keep our students, staff, and families healthy, we wanted to share some essential prevention strategies.

The attached graphic outlines Core Prevention Strategies including:

  • Immunizations: Ensure your child is up to date on all recommended vaccines.
  • Hygiene: Encourage regular handwashing and proper cough/sneeze etiquette.
  • Steps for Cleaner Air: Keep indoor spaces well-ventilated.
  • Treatment: Follow medical advice and complete prescribed treatments.
  • Stay Home and Prevent Spread: If your child is sick, please keep them at home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication and symptoms improve.

In addition, there are Additional Prevention Strategies that can further reduce the risk of illness:

  • Masks: Consider mask-wearing, especially in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Distancing: Maintain physical distance when possible to limit exposure.
  • Tests: Regular testing can help identify illness early and prevent spreading it to others.

Layering these strategies is particularly important if respiratory viruses are widespread in our community if your child or those around them are at higher risk for severe illness, or if they have been recently exposed, are sick, or are recovering.

Let’s work together to keep our school community healthy and safe!
