F.A.Q.
| Q. | What kind of school is the Options Academy-The Arts? |
| A. | Options-Arts is a career technical school for students interested in the arts and arts/entertainment marketing. No auditions or tuition are required. Students come here to work on their technical skills (learn to become a better singer, dancer, visual artist, actor, instrument player, scenery and lighting designer) and to learn how to market their specialized skills. |
| Q. | What steps do I need to take in order to come to Options Academy-The Arts? |
| A. | Options-Arts is open to students in grades 10-12. If you are interested in applying, you should talk to your school counselor and your parents/guardians and let them know about your interest. You should then complete the application, which you can get from your guidance counselor or download here, and then return that application to your counselor. You will also need to take the Kuder Career Search with Person Match. This is an interest assessment that helps us to know that you are passionate about the arts. Your counselor will also send a copy of your transcript to the school. Once those steps are complete, we will contact you if any additional information is needed. |
| Q. | Do I have to already be involved in the arts? |
| A. | No. A number of our students do come in with experience, but we are looking for students who are excited about the arts. If you bring the passion, we will help you develop your skills. |
| Q. | How much does it cost to attend OAArts? |
| A. | Options-Arts is a public school, so there is no tuition. A $70 non-refundable student fee is charged for technology, student handbook, and Career Technical Student Organization dues. |
| Q. | Do I have to select one art form, or can I try different arts? |
| A. | Students are required to select a major in dance, music, theatre, or visual arts. There are a set of units required to complete each major, but students may explore other arts areas outside of the major as time permits. |
| Q. | How do I get the classes I need to graduate? |
| A. | You will take your academic classes through Butler Tech Online. Your counselor will provide us with a transcript of the courses you have taken and our academic counselor will assign you the courses needed to meet the graduation requirements of your home school. |
| Q. | How will I get to school? |
| A. | If you are enrolled in one of our associate schools, transportation is provided from your school to D. Russel Lee and then from there to Options-Arts. If you have a car, proof of insurance, and a valid driver’s license, you may receive permission to drive to school |
| Q. | Does my diploma come from the Options Academy? |
| A. | No, your home school will award your diploma. We will make sure that you meet the requirements for graduation. |
