Program Overview
Butler Tech’s Information Technology program offers a hands-on curriculum designed to prepare students for a variety of tech-driven careers. In 10th grade, students begin with foundational courses like Operational Technology, which provides essential skills and knowledge about Safety, and Computer Hardware, where they learn the nuts and bolts of computer maintenance. As they move into 11th grade, the focus shifts to more specialized skills like Operating System Management and Computer Software diving into Web and Network Design to understand the intricacies of online and networked environments.
Personalized Capstone
The Information Technology program culminates during the 12th-grade year with a Personalized Capstone Experience, providing an authentic, real-world application of all the skills and knowledge gained throughout the program. This capstone offers an avenue for cooperative education or apprenticeships, giving students the opportunity to master the technical skills required in the industry and experience hands-on, authentic learning opportunities.
College Tech Prep Program
Information Technology combines college-like instruction with hands-on activities to prepare students for the technical occupations of the future, providing a pathway to an associate degree or beyond. College Tech Prep programs provide advanced skills in math, science, communication, and technology.
Graduate from high school career-ready and college-prepared. Earn field credentials on an individualized basis, and the option to earn college credits to apply toward a college degree.
